Repairing Outlook PST corrupted due to incompatibility with WinFax

Is your MS Outlook 2002 crashing repeatedly? And is this problem continuously happening when you exit Outlook or try to send or receive an email? When you click the 'here' link to see the details of the error message, the following event is logged in the error log:

Cause:

There could be the following reasons for such behavior of MS Outlook 2002:

· You are using WinFax PRO 10.0 from Symantec Corporation for fax management. This version of WinFax PRO is incompatible with MS Outlook 2002.

· The PST file that you are using is corrupt or damaged.

Resolution:

To recover from this situation, you should perform either of the following methods:

· Upgrade to WinFax PRO verion: You should contact Symantec Corporation to find the procedure to shift to another version of WinFax PRO, which is compatible with MS Outlook 2002.

· Use Inbox Repair tool: You can use Inbox Repair (Scanpst.exe) tool to repair the corrupted PST file. This tool is used to repair the PST file by rebuilding the indexes.

However, there may be chances that you may still get the same error message while exiting Outlook. In such cases, you should repair PST file using third-party PST repair software. Such PST repair tools are read-only in nature with rich user interface that enables you to repair Outlook PST file.
